NEW YORK, NY (September 26, 2003) -- Boxing's most exciting fighter, and new world super welterweight champion, SUGAR SHANE MOSLEY, ended his whirlwind cross-country victory tour this morning, ringing the bell to begin today's session at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Mosley, accompanied by HBO Sports President, Ross Greenburg, promoter Gary Shaw, and NYSE Executive Vice President-Communications, Robert Zito, was accorded this honor as a tribute to his spectacular unanimous decision victory over Oscar De La Hoya, September 13, giving Sugar Shane his third world title in as many different weight classes.
"I guess my stock is on the rise since I beat Oscar a second time," said Mosley, who was mobbed by fans throughout his tour of the Exchange floor.
Mosley - De La Hoya II, which was televised by HBO Pay-Per-View, is the second-highest non-heavyweight pay-per-view in history, with over 975,000 buys and $50.2 million in pay-per view revenue so far.
