24.01 – Tickets are on sale for the fight card on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Caesars Palace Pavilion in Las Vegas. In the main event, undefeated International Boxing Federation (IBF) Bantamweight Champion Tim “The Cincinnati Kid” Austin will make his 10th defense when he faces mandatory IBF challenger Rafael Marquez.

Priced at $200, $150, $100, $70 and $40, tickets can be purchased at TicketMaster locations in North America, Canada and Mexico as well as the Caesars Palace Box Office. Tickets also can be acquired by calling 1-800-834-6698, or by accessing the TicketMaster website at www.ticketmaster.com.

“We are excited to be back in Caesars Palace – The Home of Champions,” King said. “It holds a special significance for me. This will be a defining fight in Tim Austin’s career. Rafael Marquez is the top contender and a very hot Mexican fighter. Austin has wanted to unify the title, but he has chased the other champions out of the bantamweight division.”

Austin (25-0-1, 22 KOs) 31, of Cincinnati, turned professional on April 23, 1993, after bringing home the bronze medal in the 1992 Olympic Games. One of boxing most talented pound-for-pound practitioners, Austin captured the IBF 118-pound title when he registered an eighth-round TKO over M’bulelo Botile on July 19, 1997, in Nashville, Tenn. In his last outing, Austin successfully defended his title with an impressive 10th-round TKO over the game Adan Vargas on July 27, 2002, in Las Vegas.

Marquez (28-3, 26 KOs) 27, of Mexico City, Mexico, is the United States Boxing Association USBA) bantamweight champion. He won the belt in startling fashion when he upset former world champion Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson on an eighth-round TKO on Feb. 23, 2002, in Las Vegas. A former World Boxing Association (WBA) Latin American champion, the hard-hitting Marquez recorded a sixth-round TKO over Jorge Otero in his most recent start on July 12, 2002 in McAllen, Texas.

The 10-bout fight card will be promoted by Don King Productions in association with Caesars Palace, and will be televised by Home Box Office (HBO) and internationally by KingVision.
