Bouts Will Be Replayed Today On SHOWTIME TOO At 11:30 PM ET/PT And Monday, Aug. 4, On SHOWTIME EXTREME At 8 PM ET/PT

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Aug. 1, 2003) - In a battle of unbeaten welterweights, Ishe Smith recorded an impressive 10-round unanimous decision over David Estrada Thursday on "ShoBox: The New Generation" on SHOWTIME. In the co-feature, Koba Gogoladze scored a fourth-round TKO over Miguel Angel Torrecillas. The doubleheader at Kewadin Casino was promoted by Gary Shaw Productions. The telecast, which aired at 11 p.m. ET/PT, was the 34th in a series of "ShoBox" telecasts that began on July 21, 2001.

Smith (13-0, 7 KOs), of Las Vegas, dominated inside and outside en route to winning by the scores of 98-92, 97-92 and 97-93. While his speed and movement were the difference, Smith utilized an excellent body attack during the first six rounds to build an insurmountable lead. The talented boxer-puncher, a former lead sparring partner for former world champion Fernando Vargas, lost a point in the sixth for a low blow. On June 20, 2003, Smith scored a second-round KO over Sal Lopez in the inaugural boxing event at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Estrada (15-1, 7 KOs), of Chicago, was game and gave his best, but he lacked the firepower to keep Smith off him.

Gogoladze (10-0, 5 KOs), of Tblisi, The Republic of Georgia, had his way from the outset. He ended matters with one big straight left hand to the jaw. Torrecillas beat the count and made it to his feet, but the referee stopped the bout at 1:28. A southpaw, Gogoladze reached the quarterfinals at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. In his initial "ShoBox" outing and 2003 debut, Gogoladze won an eight-round split decision over Carl Johanneson on June 5 in Detroit.

Torrecillas (13-4, 6 KOs), of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, had a five-fight winning streak snapped.

"ShoBox: The New Generation" features up-and-coming prospects determined to make a mark and eventually fight for a chance at a world title. The best of the new generation of hungry, young boxers will have an opportunity to showcase their talent and heart as they battle each other in competitive fights in front of a national television audience. "ShoBox: The New Generation" is pure, basic boxing, reminiscent of the golden days of the sport.

Nick Charles called Thursday's action from ringside, with Steve Farhood serving as expert analyst. The executive producers of the telecast were Jay Larkin and Gordon Hall, with Richard Gaughan producing.
