Allan Vester: Going To The Back Yard!

07.05 - Two time IBF Intercontinental light welterweight champion, and former world and European title challenger, Allan Vester (23-3-1) will once again be going to an opponents back yard to fight an important fight.

On May 16 he takes on Dutchman Akunel Dias (8-2) in Den Haag, Holland, in what will be the first defence of the Danes second reign as I/C champion.

Previously in his career, Vester has fought local guys, or "the promoters boy" if you will, in Spain, Switzerland, USA and Italy, and recently he fought a non-title bout in Germany.

Judging from his record, Dias may not look like the most challenging foe for the Dane, but he is one of those guys who are far better than his credentials suggests. Capturing the Dutch title and the BeNeLux crown within his first ten pro fights also proves that he is ready to go to the next level.

And Vester is well aware that looking past Dias can be a dangerous thing:

"I have studied him on tape, and I must say that I am really impressed. In the fights I have seen with him, he looks really strong. There is no way that I am going to look at his record and underestimate him. He is coming to win, and since the fight will be in his country I know I have to perform well" says Vester.

The card in Holland will also have five of Vester´s stablemates on the card, with up-and-coming heavyweight prospect Richel Hersisia (18-0) as the chief-support. Hersisia is from Den Haag, but promoted in Denmark where he has fought a significant number of his pro fights.
