Ex-PABA challenger Banjao in action

By Dennis Principe (with reports from Pia Delos Reyes)

19.12 - Elorde International Productions in cooperation with Honorable Mayor Homer T. Saquilayan of Imus, brings another action-packed boxing event in Imus, Cavite come December 19, 2002, Thursday (Manila Time) at the covered court of Imus Plaza in Cavite.

Featuring the Philippines’ aspiring fighters headed by Philippine Lightflyweight #7 Sukarno Banjao from Cadiz City and Marvin dela Cruz, PBF #5 Lightflyweight Contender.

Banjao, who was first seen in action in September 1999 has been given the chance to fight in two title events. In July 28 2001, he collided with Cebu’s pride Jovan Presbitero for the Philippine Lightflyweight Championship but lost via unanimous decision. Nine months later, he fought for yet another title fight this time the Pan Asian Boxing Association Lightflyweight Championship against Denkaosaen Kaowichit, held in Hualin, Thailand. It was another unfortunate loss for Banjao via split decision.

The flamboyant fighting style of Sukarno Banjao has brought delight in his recent fight in the majestic province of Surigao where he stopped his opponent in the 3rd round via technical knockout.

Fight starts at 7pm.
