PHILIPPINE BOXING SEMINAR SET

11.12 - MAKATI City, Philippines Hoping to produce more credible and efficient boxing officials, the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) will conduct another boxing seminar December 12 (Philippine time) at the Grilla Bar and Grill in this city.
Fresh from attending the recent World Boxing Council (WBC) convention in Tokyo, Japan, GAB chairman Eduardo Villanueva is expected to impart new ideas regarding officiating and scoring.
GAB Boxing chief Emmanuel Flores, who joined Villanueva at the convention, will talk about updated rules they are currently implementing particularly the importance of undergoing Hepatitis B examination for boxers applying for a license. Flores is a member of the prestigious WBC ratings committee.
Noted judge and referee Ferdinand Estrella will explain the duties, fairness and technical knowledge of a boxing judge while international referee Bruce McTavish will focus on the importance of a referees physical fitness and responsibilities.
GAB Physicians Dr. Naseer Cruz and Dr. Renato Alampay will tackle the medical safety and requirements for all boxers.
The seminar, which will also focus on obligations of promoters and managers to all their boxers as well as requirements for boxers fighting abroad., will start at 9am.
This will be GABs third and last seminar for the year with the first two held separately at the VIP Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City last November 16 and at the Holiday Plaza Hotel in Cebu City last November 22.
