KLITSCHKO CALLS OUT SANDERS AFTER BLOWING OUT MOLI

31.08 - The "Return Of The Brother" did not last long.

Making his initial start since losing his World Boxing Organization (WBO) heavyweight title to Corrie Sanders in March, Wladimir "Dr. Steelhammer" Klitschko impressively knocked out Fabio Moli 1:49 into the first round Saturday night in Munich, Germany.

The younger brother of "People's Heavyweight Champion" Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir (41-2, 38 KOs) had vowed to come back "stronger than ever'' and he did just that before a sellout of 11,500 at Olympic Arena. ESPN is scheduled to show (highlights of) the fight this week.

The boxers exchanged jabs for approximately 90 seconds before Wladimir, in his first start with new co-trainer Freddie Roach in the corner, knocked Moli (29-3, 17 KOs) to his knees with a perfect left hook to the side of the head. The Argentine, who never saw the punch coming, did not make it to his feet and was counted out.

"I really hope my next fight is the rematch with Sanders," Wladimir Klitschko said. "I know I am ready for him now.

"It was very good for me to win like I did. It proves that I am on my way back to the top. This was an important step and I am happy with the way it turned out.

"Obviously, I am quite satisfied with my performance, but I am also disappointed that the fight was so short. But I caught him with a great left hand. I could tell when I hit him that it was a solid power punch.''

Vitali Klitschko, who works the corner for all his brother's fights, was pleased and relieved afterward.

"I never get nervous before any of Wladimir's fights, but I was very nervous before this one," he admitted. "Wladimir convinced me, however, that he is back and as good as new.

"I have always said that technically Wladimir was the best heavyweight in the world, and he convinced me again tonight. I truly hope he gets the rematch with Sanders.''

As for his future plans, Vitali said: "I am looking forward to my Dec. 6 fight in the United States. Hopefully, it is against Lennox Lewis. I know I can beat him.''
