Klitschko Bros Not Surprised by Lennox Lewis’ One-sided Victory Over Tyson

10.06 - World Boxing Organization (WBO) Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko and his brother, Vitali, a former WBO heavyweight champion and current No. 2 contender, both picked Lennox Lewis to defeat Mike Tyson in their fight tonight in Memphis.

Here is what the brothers, who sat ringside for the bout and did guest commentary for German television, had to say afterward:

Wladimir, who makes the fourth defense of his title against Ray Mercer on Saturday, June 29, on HBO, in Atlantic City: "Lennox Lewis fought a very smart, technical fight and dominated. I was very impressed. I expected Tyson to be very dangerous the fight three rounds and then Lewis to take control in the mid-to-late rounds, but Lewis took command even earlier than that. Tyson wants a rematch but after this I doubt anybody would want to see it. I would love for Lewis to fight me or my brother, Vitali. I have a "history" with Lewis, having been in the movie with him. Of course, I would like to fight him for real."

Vitali, who faces Larry Donald on July 20 in Dortmund, Germany: "It was an interesting fight, but I was not surprised. Lennox Lewis is very smart and he fought an excellent fight. I am not sure he got caught with one clean punch. He threw nice combinations and dominated. I have studied Lewis for a long time, however, and he does make some mistakes that I feel I could take advantage of. I am not going to explain or talk about them, but if we ever fight I know I will make him pay for them.''

It´s Unanimous: The Klitschko Bros Pick Lewis To Win

WLADIMIR, VITALI ARRIVE IN MEMPHIS SATURDAY FOR MEDIA ROUNDTABLE AND TO WATCH FIGHT

08.06 - World Boxing Organization (WBO) Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko and his brother, Vitali, a former WBO heavyweight champion and current World Boxing Council (WBC) and WBO No. 2 and World Boxing Association (WBA) No. 3 contender, are picking Lennox Lewis to defeat Mike Tyson – barely -- on Saturday, June 8.

Wladimir (38-1, 35 KOs), who makes the fourth defense of his title against Ray Mercer (30-4-1, 22 KOs) on Saturday, June 29, on HBO, in Atlantic City, says: “I think Lennox Lewis will win the fight but that it will not be easy, especially in the early rounds when Tyson will be at his strongest and most dangerous. Lewis is a very skilled and talented fighter but this could be a very tough fight for him.’’

Vitali (31-1, 30 KOs), who defends his WBA Intercontinental heavyweight title against Larry Donald (39-2-2, 23 KOs) on July 20 in Dortmund, Germany, says: “This is almost a 50-50 fight. I favor Lennox Lewis to win but only by something like 51-49. Like most experts, I like Tyson’s chances early, and Lewis’ chances late. I hope to fight the winner next, whoever it may be.”

The Klitschkos arrive in Memphis Saturday, and will participate in a media roundtable at 3 o’clock that afternoon at the Cook Convention Center. Both brothers will be part of the broadcast team that works Lewis-Tyson for German television.
