J.A.B. co-Founder Eddie Mustafa Muhammad who is also J.A.B.'s national organizer said, "This is just another step for J.A.B. in gaining legitimacy. When big time boxers like David Tua join the union, people stand up and take notice."

At a press conference in May, Teamsters General President James Hoffa, Jr. expressed his support for the union, "Every other sport is organized, now boxers will be organized.
