Legendary Trainer Angelo Dundee To Attend 2003 Hall Of Fame Weekend
10.05 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced today legendary boxing trainer Angelo Dundee will be among the celebrity guests attending the 2003 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend scheduled for June 5-8th.
Dundee has guided 15 world champions including Hall of Famers Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, George Foreman, Sugar Ramos, Jose Napoles, Luis Rodriguez, Willie Pastrano and Canastota's Carmen Basilio. In 1992 Dundee was elected into the Boxing Hall of Fame.
"Angelo has trained some of the greatest fighters in history," said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. "His knowledge of the sport is truly amazing and he's a great ambassador for boxing."
The Hall of Fame Weekend will feature over 20 exciting events. Living inductees to be honored include welterweight king Curtis Cokes, 2-time heavyweight champion George Foreman, junior welterweight champion Nicolino Locche, 3-division champion Mike McCallum, journalist Jack Fiske and author/screenwriter Budd Schulberg. Posthumous inductees will also be honored.
Over 50 boxing stars, including Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Emile Griffith, Ken Buchanan, Earnie Shavers, George Chuvalo, Aaron Pryor, Alexis Arguello, Carmen Basilio, Gene Fullmer, Tony DeMarco, Marlon Starling, James "Buster" Douglas, Frank Bruno, and Tommy Morrison are scheduled to participate in weekend festivities.
