LEGENDARY TRAINER ANGELO DUNDEE STATES UNEQUIVICALLY THAT CUBAN HEAVYWEIGHT JUAN CARLOS GOMEZ IS READY FOR ANY HEAVYWEIGHT IN THE WORLD.

09.09 - On Saturday, September 27, Juan Carlos Gomez 36-0 (31 KO's), will box Sinan Samilsan 18-0 (11 KO's), in a 10 round heavyweight bout at Buffalo's HSBC Arena to be aired on HBO's Night of the Young Heavyweights.

Angelo Dundee, considered the gold standard among boxing handlers, has managed and/or trained: Muhammad Ali, Carmen Basilio, Jimmy Ellis, Sugar Ray Leonard, Willie Pastrano and numerous other contenders and champions.

Recently, Dundee was asked to fine-tune former Cruiserweight Champion, now heavyweight, Juan Carlos Gomez. Dundee worked with Gomez for one month at the South Florida Boxing Gym in Weston, Florida.

Dundee was immediately impressed by Gomez's attitude and temperament. "He's got a fighter's attitude," Dundee said. "He's an intelligent kid; the people are going to love him, he's always got a smile on his puss. He's an admirer of my kid Muhammad, so there's a natural camaraderie between us."

Dundee stated that the reason Gomez isn't better known in the U.S. is because he's fought almost exclusively in Germany. Gomez defected there from his native Cuba.

Dundee continued: "He'll beat and awful lot of heavyweights; he's very smooth, there's no awkwardness about the guy. He's ready for anyone."

The telecast also will feature scheduled 10 round fights involving Joe Mesi, (26-0, 24 KO's) against DaVarryl Williamson, (18-1, 16 KO's) and Dominic Guinn, (22-0, 17 KO's) against Duncan Dokiwari, (22-1, 19 KO's).
