Boxing In The Bronx: Eric Harding To Headline May 18 Show

NEW YORK, May 5 - It's been a long time coming, but world class Boxing has returned to the Big Apple; specifically, the Bronx, where on Sunday, May 18, Final Forum Inc. is pleased to present an evening of professional boxing at the world famous Jimmy's Bronx Cafe.

The eight bout card, presented in association with Goossen Tutor Promotions, will be aired on Fox Sports Net's "Sunday Night Fights" telecast, beginning at 6pm ET / PT

"We're pleased to be working with Ron Scott Stevens and the New York State Athletic Commission to bring boxing back to the fans," said Sal Musumeci, President of Final Forum Inc. "This is also the start of a five year relationship with Jimmy's Bronx Cafe and I can guarantee that the fans are going to see action-packed, evenly matched fights each time we put on a show."

To celebrate this special evening of boxing at Jimmy's Bronx Cafe, legendary world champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad wll be in attendance as a special ringside guest.

Between the ropes, the inaugural "Boxing in the Bronx" show will undoubtedly produce fireworks when top light heavyweight contender Eric Harding (21-2-1, 7 KOs) clashes with Jamaican-born slugger Glencoffe Johnson (38-9-1, 27 KOs) in a 12 round main event for the USBA light heavyweight title.

"Johnson is a tough customer and the only light heavyweight willing to step up and fight Eric," said Musumeci. "Both guys come to fight, and no matter whose hand is raised, the fans are going to be the real winners on May 18."

In the co-feature, 2000 Mexican Olympian Daniel Ponce-DeLeon puts his stellar 12-0 (12 KOs) record on the line against a to be determined foe in a bantamweight contest.

As an added attraction for Bronx boxing fans, borough native and former world welterweight champion Aaron "Superman" Davis returns to the ring in a super middleweight bout. Davis (49-6, 31 KOs) is riding a six bout winning streak that includes wins over Vinny Pazienza and Ross Thompson.

Also in action on the "Boxing in The Bronx" card will be a score of up and coming local prospects, including unbeaten light heavyweight knockout artist Aneudi Santos (8-0, 6 KOs), welterweight Fontaine Cabell (22-2, 17 KOs), debuting junior middleweight Ray Gonzales, and the Bronx' own heavyweight, "Punching Pat" Nwamu (5-1)

Doors open at 4pm, and the first bout begins at 5pm.
