CKP Everlast Heavyweight Boxing Series on April 12

12.03 - STATELINE, Nev.-Undefeated heavyweight Dominick Guinn and unbeaten welterweight Anthony "The Messenger" Thompson headline the "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" professional boxing card presented by Cedric Kushner Promotions Saturday, April 12, at Caesars Tahoe.

Guinn of Hot Springs, Ark., meets Charles Hatcher of Columbus, Ohio, in the 10-round main event while Thompson of Philadelphia faces Brad Jensen of Estes Park, Colo., in the semi-main event on the nationally and internationally televised monthly Cedric Kushner Promotions card.

Also on the card at Caesars Tahoe will be a women's bout matching light flyweights Deidra Hamaguchi of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Stephanie Dobbs of Moore, Okla. Guinn is one of the most highly regarded heavyweight prospects in the sport while Thompson wasfavored to win the gold medal for the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympics had he not turned pro last year.

The 27-year-old Guinn has a record of 20-0 with 15 knockouts while the 30-year-old Hatcher has a mark of 14-3 with 10 knockouts.

The 21-year-old Thompson has a record of 10-0 with eight knockouts and is fighting for the fourth time in only 11 weeks while the 28-year-old Jensen has a mark of 12-7-1 with five knockouts.

Hamaguchi, who graduated from Yale, teaches high school in New York City.

The six-bout Cedric Kushner Promotions card starts at 7 p.m. (Pacific) with doors to the Circus Maximus showroom opening at 6.

Tickets for the card at Caesars Tahoe are priced at $15, $25, $35 and $50 with all seats reserved.

Other bouts on the Cedric Kushner Promotions card at Caesars Tahoe, all in the heavyweight division, include Chauncy Welliver of Spokane, Wash., against Willie Chapman of Ogden, Utah, in a six-round fight; Freddie Gatica of Austin, Texas, against Roosevelt Parker of Denver in a four-round bout; and Vernon Woodward of Shawnee, Okla., against Andre Hobbs of Denver in a four-round fight.

The card will be televised live nationally on HDTV and on tape delay to more than 100 countries on the Cedric Kushner Promotions Sports Network.
