SHUFFORD-CHAPMAN on July 12

09.07 - Highly regarded heavyweight Charles Shufford of Las Vegas, Nev., meets Willie Chapman of Ogden, Utah, in the 10-round main event on the nationally and internationally televised "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" eight-bout professional boxing card presented by Cedric Kushner Promotions Saturday, July 12, at Caesars Tahoe in Stateline, Nev.

Shufford has a record of 19-4 with nine knockouts while Chapman, a slick and crafty veteran, has won three straight.

Other fighters on the card at Caesars Tahoe include women light flyweights Stephanie Dobbs of Moore, Okla., and Hollie Dunaway of Fort Smith, Ark.; welterweight Simon Ruvalcaba of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; undefeated heavyweight prospects Shane Cameron and Paula Mataele; and unbeaten super welterweight Daniel Codling.

The Cedric Kushner Promotions card starts at 7 p.m. (Pacific) with doors to the Circus Maximus showroom opening at 6.

Tickets for the card at Caesars Tahoe are priced at $25, $35, $50 and $75 with all seats reserved.

Ruvalcaba faces Roman Polak of Reno, Nev.; Cameron meets Vernon Woodward of Shawnee, Okla.; Mataele takes on Jeremiah Constant of Edmond, Okla.; and Codling goes against Arthur Medina of Fort Collins, Colo. All four fights are scheduled for four rounds.

The 30-year-old Shufford won the International Boxing Association Americas heavyweight championship with a 12-round unanimous decision over Eliecer Castillo on a Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card Oct. 13 in Choctaw, Miss.

The 35-year-old Chapman is coming off four straight impressive efforts. On Feb. 15 on a Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card in Laughlin, Nev., Chapman drew with Patrice L'Heureux, who entered with an unblemished record. On April 12 on a Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" at Caesars Tahoe, Chapman knocked out T.J. Wilson in the third round. Fourteen days later in Las Vegas, Chapman beat Alphonzo Davis. And on June 7 on another Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" in Laughlin, Chapman beat Todd Diggs. Chapman has a record of 16-17-3 with four knockouts.

The 25-year-old Ruvalcaba has a record of 2-4-1 with no knockouts and has won his past two bouts by decision over Dwayne Pope, April 12 on aCedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card at Caesars Tahoe and again May 17 in Reno.

The 25-year-old Polak has a record of 0-1. Before turning pro, Polak was a U.S. Marine and was a member of FAST (Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team).

The 25-year-old Cameron, originally from New Zealand and now living in Las Vegas, has a record of 3-0 with three knockouts.

The 34-year-old Woodward has a record of 3-5 with three knockouts. He stopped Andre Hobbs in the second round on that Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card at Caesars Tahoe April 12.

The 25-year-old Mataele, also from New Zealand and living in Las Vegas, has a record of 4-0 with three knockout.

Constant has a record of 0-1.

The 23-year-old Codling, the third fighter on the card from New Zealand and living in Las Vegas, has a record of 3-0 with two knockouts.

The 27-year-old Medina has a record of 5-10 with three knockouts.

Cameron, Mataele and Codling are managed and trained by Kevin Barry, who also manages and trains world-ranked heavyweight contender David Tua.

Dobbs has a record of 7-8-2 with five knockouts while Dunaway has a mark of 2-2 with two knockouts. Dobbs also appeared on the Cedric Kushner Promotions' card April 12 at Caesars Tahoe, getting a draw with Deidra Hamaguchi.
