CKP'S MICHAEL GRANT NOW FIGHTING
JAN. 24 IN PHILADELPHIA
08.01 - Heavyweight contender Michael Grant, who's
promoted by Cedric Kushner Promotions, now will fight
in Jan. 24 in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-7-inch Grant
originally had been scheduled to fight Jan. 25 in
Reno, Nev., but that card, promoted by George Chung,
was postponed.
The 30-year-old Grant, from Norristown, Pa., has
a record of 36-2 with 27 knockouts. Grant, who met
Lennox Lewis for the World Boxing Council and International
Boxing Federation heavyweight championships during
2000, has won five straight by knockout: James Walton
in the fourth round on Nov. 7 in Washington, D.C.;
Robert Davis in the third Aug. 3 in Ledyard, Conn.;
Anthony Willis in the second June 1 in Las Vegas,
Nev.; Joe Lenhart in the fifth April 13 in Chester,
W. Va.; and Reynaldo Minus in the fourth March 9 in
Pittsburgh.
Also on that card in The Spectrum will be Cedric
Kushner Promotions' undefeated welterweight sensation,
Anthony Thompson, who'll be making his hometown debut.
Opponents for both Grant and Thompson will be determined.
