Tony "The Tiger" Thompson On "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" Card On March 7

04.03 - Smooth-moving heavyweight Anthony "Tony the Tiger" Thompson of Silver Spring, Md., goes for his 14th straight win when he appears in a 10-round bout on "Thunder at the Falls," a card presented by Casino Niagara and promoted by Allan Tremblay's Orion Sports Management in association with Cedric Kushner Promotions, March 7 at Niagara Falls, Ont.

Cedric Kushner Promotions is incorporating its popular and long-running monthly show, "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion," within the seven-bout card that will be held in the Niagara Falls Memorial Arena.

The 6-foot-6-inch Thompson, who has a record of 17-1 with nine knockouts, meets James Gaines of Knoxville, Tenn.

Thompson, a 31-year-old southpaw, is coming off a seventh-round knockout of Zuri Lawrence on a Cedric Kushner Promotions' "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card Oct. 20 in Tacoma, Wash. Lawrence earned a draw with Ray Austin Feb. 15 on a Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card in Laughlin, Nev.

The 31-year-old Gaines, who's also tall at 6-foot-5-1/2-inches, has a record of 16-6 with 12 knockouts.

Also on the card is undefeated heavyweight Jean-Francois Bergeron of Montreal against Darroll Wilson of Danville, Va., in a second 10-round fight.

Bergeron has a record of 17-0 with 13 knockouts while Wilson has a mark of 27-6-2 with 21 knockouts.

The 29-year-old Bergeron, a 6-foot-5-inch southpaw, is coming off a fifth-round knockout of Brian Nix on a Cedric Kushner Promotions' "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card Nov. 17 in Grand Forks, N.D. Bergeron appeared on two other Cedric Kushner Promotions "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" cards last year, April 21 in Laughlin when he halted Marcellus Brown in the third round and Jan 18 in Las Vegas, Nev., when he beat Jason Nicholson.
