Shufford vs Castillo, Whitaker vs Couser on CKP Card on Oct 13th

12.10 - Contender Charles Shufford of Las Vegas, Nev., meets Eliecer Castillo of Miami, Fla., in a 12-round bout for the vacant International Boxing Association Continental Americas heavyweight championship on Cedric Kushner Promotions' monthly "Everlast Heavyweight Explosion" card televised live nationally by Fox Sports Net Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Silver Star Casino in Choctaw, Miss.

Heavyweight Lance "Mount" Whitaker of Granada Hills, Calif., faces Cliff Couser of Las Vegas in the 10-round semi-main event.

Also on the seven-bout card are undefeated heavyweight prospects Patrice L'Heureux of Quebec City and Eliseo Castillo of Miami, Fla., plus a women's junior flyweight fight featuring Nina Ahlin of Atlanta against Stephanie Dobbs of Oklahoma City..

Shufford replaces DaVarryl Williamson, who withdrew because his father is seriously ill. The card starts at 4:15 p.m. (Central) with doors to the Silver Star Casino Ballroom opening at 4. Tickets, priced at $25 for reserved and $50 for VIP, are on sale at the Silver Star Casino box office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets also are available by calling 800-922-9988 during those days and hours. This Cedric Kushner Promotions card offers two classic matchups between punchers and boxers.

Shufford has a record of 18-2 with nine knockouts and is coming off a win over Marcellus Brown on a Cedric Kushner Promotions card Sept. 21 in Las Vegas..

Eliecer, originally from Havana, Cuba, has a record of 23-2-2 with 12 knockouts.

The 6-foot-6 1/2-inch Whitaker, who no longer is known as "Goofi," has a record of 24-2-1 with 20 knockouts.

Couser, who bears an amazing resemblance to Mike Tyson, has a record of 24-7-2 with 12 knockouts.

The Cedric Kushner Promotions card is sponsored by Everlast, which has been at the forefront of boxing equipment for almost 100 years.
