Cappiello St. Patrick's Day Fight card televised this Sunday on FoxSports

20.03 - BOSTON ---- The first Cappiello Promotions fight card of 2003 season, that took place on St. Patrick's Day at the Roxy will be shown on FoxSports NewEngland on Sunday, March 23 at 3:30 p.m.

A full house at the Roxy saw the first title IBC America's Heavyweight title defense of Kevin "The Clones Colossus" McBride. The Goody Petronelli-trained heavyweight fought Brockton's Najee Shaheed in a scheduled 12-round bout as McBride continues to improve his status in the heavyweight division.

The Cappiello fight card sponsored in part by Guinness, Mohegan Sun, the Holiday Inn Metro South also featured a scheduled 10-round junior welterweight fight between two South Boston natives Jimmy LeBlanc and Kevin Watts. The two Southie natives were fighting for the Massachusetts state title and the chance to fight for the New England title.

The Cappiello card also featured Eddie McAloney's chance to get a measure of revenge against Ireland's Martin Moore in a six-round junior welterweight fight. One of the more promising middleweights Ian Gardner, recently voted Rookie of the Year by one New England-based boxing magazine, will battle Joe Lorenzi of Minnesota. Williams Gibbs faces a tough battle when he takes on Dave Hadden. Heavyweight James Clancy, a five-time Irish National champion, will also be included on the card.

Stu Taylor, Dana Rosenblatt and Mike Cappiello were ringside for all the exciting action. Again, the fight card will be broadcast this Sunday at 3:30 on FoxSports NewEngland.
