Ashira On Hopkins-Joppy Undercard?

29.09 - Coming off his impressive destruction of Nigerian contender Jerry Elliott (37-3-1, 24 KOs) on September 6 in Germany, IBF # 5, WBA # 6, WBC # 8 middleweight contender; Evans “The African Warrior” Ashira, will soon begin high altitude training in the mountains of Central Kenya, as preparations for a spot on the undercard of the Bernard Hopkins vs. William Joppy fight December 13 in Atlantic City.

“The word I am getting from Don King Productions is that I will most likely be on that card, so that is what I will train for. I want to fight the winner of that fight for the undisputed world title, so it would be a perfect showcase for me” says Ashira, 23-0 (13), before flying from Copenhagen, Denmark to Kenya.

This being the first time in six months that Ashira is back in his home country, he has several obligations he must go through upon arrival. Obligations that come with the territory of being a national sports hero. This week for instance, he will visit the Kenyan National Amateur Boxing team, to give them some moral before the upcoming All African Games. A meeting has also been set up for the powerful boxer, with the country’s minister of sports.

After his Kenyan visit, Ashira will go back to his second homeland; Denmark, before stepping up the training in DKP´s training camp in Florida, USA.

“I really hope for something big to happen soon, because I am sooooo hungry. I tried to eat Elliott in Germany, but the referee saved him when he was crawling all over the ring. I have a message to the big name middleweights out there: I am closing in on you guys for real! And my latest win being much better than what most of the guys ranked above me have achieved lately, I will surely close in on you all in the rankings too. Eventually you wont be able to get around me”…
