The "Ghost" Is Ready For Coming Out Party

Jim Amato

01.07 - Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik is unbeaten in 17 professional contests. His 16 kayo victories have undoubtably raised some eyebrows. Yet he knows as well as anyone that Tuesday night at Cafaro Field the Youngstown native is moving into the next phase of his young career.

In his first ten rounder Kelly will take on the capable Rico Cason of Lebanon,TN. Cason is 16-7 with only 4 KO's but he is still a step up in competition for Kelly. A victory over Cason followed by a few more over Cason type opposition could lead Kelly toward a match with a top 15 or 20 rated foe.
The bout will be an ESPN 2 co-feature. Former W.B.A. 122 lb. titleholder Bones Adams 41-6-3 with 19 KO's will face rugged Manuel Sepeda 15-6-2,5 KO's in the other feature bout.

Pavlik has looked great in sparring and appears to be more then ready to meet his next challenge. Kelly has the boxing wise town of Youngstown buzzing as he rekindles memories of past heroes. This area has produced the likes of Lenny and Ray Mancini, Tony Janiro, Sonny Horne, Harry Arroyo, Greg Richardson and Jeff Lampkin.

The last area prospect was the talented Ken Sigurani who met Julio Cesar Chavez and Hector Camacho Sr. in his respectable career. Kelly Pavlik appears to be the real thing. We should know more after tonight.
