Tyson Fury: I’ve got that fire back in me

Tyson Fury: I’ve got that fire back in me

By his own admission, heavyweight champ Tyson Fury struggled to remain motivated after his big November win over Wladimir Klitschko. The new champion piled out weight, wasn’t really interested in talking about boxing and even suggested he might retire, claiming he had done everything he had set out to do. True, we never know when Fury is being serious, but some fans wondered if the hard to figure out 27-year-old meant it when he said he’d done all he’d wanted to.

Hearn now looking at Johann Duhaupas for Joshua’s first defence

Another big sell-out is anticipated, even though fans who are buying tickets do not yet know who the 16-0(16) Joshua’s challenger will be.

Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko to come face to face at Manchester press conference next week

Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko to come face to face at Manchester press conference next week

The fight is dubbed “Repeat or Revenge,” and next week in the city of Manchester in the UK, heavyweight rivals Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko will come face to face for the first time since their November fight, at the official press conference to announce the date and the venue of the anticipated return.

Press conferences can be dull affairs, merely a matter of formality. However, in light of the crazy, and highly amusing antics Fury got up to in a previous press conference with Klitschko – where he, amongst other things, dressed up as Batman, rolled around on the floor in a mock fight, knocked the then-champ’s belts on the floor and hurled plenty of verbal abuse at an often bemused-looking Klitschko – people are asking themselves what will happen when Fury meets Klitschko next Wednesday in Manchester?

Joshua breaks down his three likely candidates: Stiverne, Molina, Breazeale

As has been reported previously, newly crowned IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is likely to face one of the following three opponents in his first title defence set for June 25th: Bermane Stiverne, Eric Molina or Dominic Breazeale. All three US heavyweights have strengths and weaknesses, and either fighter would make a good first title challenger for the 16-0(16) champ who has yet to be taken beyond the 7th-round.

Reigning and undefeated IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook heard unbeaten hot prospect Errol Spence Junior call him out after his impressive stoppage win over Chris Algieri this past Saturday, and Brook, in speaking with Sky Sports, says a fight with the classy southpaw will be “interesting when he becomes the mandatory and we have to get it on.” However, Brook – who lists WBC welterweight ruler Danny Garcia as his first choice for his next fight – isn’t yet convinced “The Truth” is the complete article.

Thankfully, no brain surgery was needed and Blackwell, who regained consciousness a week after the fight, now says he is “on the mend.”

Tyson Fury starts first day of training camp for Klitschko rematch, has plenty of weight to shift

Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has begun his training for the July 9th return fight with Wladimir Klitschko, with Fury entering camp for day-one earlier today. And the 27-year-old, by his own admission, really is a heavyweight, with plenty of excess weight to lose before the fight. Tyson will be training alongside his cousin, unbeaten prospect Hughie Fury, under the watchful eye of trainer and uncle Peter.

Peter Fury wrote in a Tweet earlier today how, “9th July the real journey begins,” and those who know how Team-Fury work have faith in Peter having his fighter fully focused and ready for the fight at hand. Still, Fury, a big man indeed at 6’9” and around 250 to 255-pounds when in top fighting shape, needs to lose close to a fifth of that weight for the rematch. As Tyson Tweeted a couple of hours ago:

Khan says a win over Canelo will “take away all the defeats I have had”

Although Amir Khan has his critics, who suggest the former 140-pound king is not the great talent he himself believes he is, no-one can deny how Khan has always sought the big fights (he was absolutely desperate to get a Floyd Mayweather Junior and/or a Manny Pacquiao into the ring). Nor can anyone say Khan is not involved in exciting fight after exciting fight. And, for a fighter some more vocal critics have called “chinny,” “overrated” and a fighter who has been “exposed at top level,” Khan has a pretty good record.
