Robert Guerrero tops Andre Berto, wants Mayweather next

by Sofia Barraza: WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KO’s) knocked down Andre Berto (28-2, 22 KO’s) twice en rout to winning a 12 round unanimous decision tonight in an HBO televised fight in Ontario, California. Many thought Berto was finished after the knockdowns but he kept on fighting from the ropes where he spent a majority of the 12 rounds. Berto was getting some solid shots in every now and then but Guerrero was clearly coming out on top. Guerrero won the fight on all three judges’ cards by the scores 116-110, 116-110 and 116-110.

Guerrero was winning the fight round by round and Berto still didn’t switch up his game plan. Or he wanted to, but simply couldn’t. I think there isn’t much to be said except that, most of the fight took place with Berto’s back against the ropes and both punchers got some good shots in, with Guerrero getting in more. And Berto’s puffy eyes by the end of the fight, let us know who took the most punishment and that the best man won.
