Senchenko stops Hatton; Quigg stops Munroe; Murray beats Navarro

By Michael Collins: Vyacheslav Senchenko (33-1, 22 KO’s) ruined the comeback for Ricky Hatton (45-3, 32 KO’s) tonight in stopping him in the 9th round at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Senchenko sent a tired Hatton down in the 9th with a hard left hook to the midsection in the 9th. Hatton was too hurt to get back to his feet, and even if he had he would have been trouble. Hatton appeared to have a slight lead in the fight, but his face was badly swollen up around his right eye.

In hindsight, this wasn’t the smartest thing for Hatton to do by taking on someone as tough as Senchenko for his first fight back from a 3 1/2 year retirement.

Other boxing results on the card:

Sergey Rabchenko SD 12 Cedric Vitu
Martin Murray TKO 6 Jorge Navarro
Scott Quigg TKO 6 Rendall Munroe
Gary Buckland RTD 8 Stephen Foster
