DeGale defeats Bozic; Eubank Jr., Galahad and Fury win

WBC Silver super middleweight champion James DeGale (16-1, 11 KO’s) bludgeoned challenger Stjepan Bozic (26-7, 17 KO’s) to a four round stoppage tonight at the Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom. DeGale was hitting Bozic nearly at will with shots in the 4th round.

Bozic wisely chose not come out for the 5th. I think he could have continued on for another three or four rounds until DeGale stopped him outright, but he was just taking shots and he wasn’t being competitive. He did the smart thing by choosing not to continue after the 4th.

DeGale landed some nice uppercuts and was throwing shots from every angle from the 1st round. Bozic showed a lot of heart in taking the punches and throwing some nice shots back. DeGale was hit a lot in the fight despite winning so easily. It just looked like he was more focused on putting on an entertaining fight rather than thinking about defense.

After the fight was over, DeGale said he’d like to fight IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch next if possible.

Undercard action

Chris Eubank Jr. TKO 8 Tyan Booth
Kid Galahad TKO 5 Isaac Nettey
Peter McDonagh pts 4 Liam Griffiths
Hughie Fury TKO 1 Ladislav Kovarik
