Although he is now 37 years old and hasn’t boxed since a decision loss to Paulie Malignaggi in December of 2013, former two weight world champion Zab Judah will return to the ring in September after signing with Greg Cohen’s promotional outfit.
Cohen will work alongside Judah’s own “Super Judah Promotions” to stage his return, which will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and following that, the New Yorker says he would like to win one more championship before finally calling it a day.
“My goal is to win a championship and (then) retire,” Judah said when speaking to ESPN.
“I never thought about retirement (now),” he said. “I always knew I could be better. I just need to put in 110 percent effort, and things will come out great.”
Judah plans to return at 140 lbs, where he spent the majority of his career and enjoyed most success, and feels rejuvenated after a rest, and along with helping Floyd Mayweather prepare for May’s fight with Manny Pacquiao, feels ready to go.
“Sept. 20 will mark my (19th)anniversary as a pro. I’m still here, still have my faculties, still quick, still can go at a high level.
“I’m only 37. Mayweather is older than me. You just got to put in the hard work and dedication. After training with Floyd, I felt excellent. I left out of that camp in top-notch shape. I was ready to go, and I will be ready to go for my fight.”

“Zab has been in with every great fighter of this era and beaten many of them. He is a Brooklyn boxing legend and still a force to be reckoned with at 140 pounds. He still has the speed and reflexes of a top fighter, and after a few comeback appearances, he will be ready for another assault on the current kings of the division.”
An opponent for the return has yet to be confirmed.
