(Photo credit: Suzanne Teresa/Premier Boxing Champions) Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16 KOs) conquered Adrien “The Problem” Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision in a spirited fight on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Porter may not have had the talent that Broner had, but his tremendous heart, aggressiveness and high work rate proved to be too much for the 25-year-old Broner to deal with.

Porter literally had Broner holding and running for 12 full rounds. The one bit of success that Broner had came in the 12th round when he caught Porter with a left hook and dropped him on his backside. The knockdown proved to be just a fluke thing because Porter regained his equilibrium and finished the round strong.

The judges scored the fight 114-112, 115-111 and 118-108. The last two scores were more than fair. The 114-112 score was a joke. The fight was not that close.

In the undercard, boxing fans saw what could be a future world champion in undefeated welterweight Errol Spence (17-0, 14 KOs) obliterating Phil Lo Greco (26-2, 14 KOs) by a 3rd round knockout. The hard hitting Spence knocked Lo Greco down in the 3rd with a right hand. After Lo Greco got back up, Spence unloading everything but the kitchen sink on him until referee Robert Byrd stepped in and stopped the bout before Spence could put the coup de grace. The time of the stoppage was 1:50 of the round. Spence later said that he could be fighting in September on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. undercard. He’s hoping to face WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman. With the way Spence looked tonight, I would favor him to beat Thurman.

Other boxing action on the card:

Terrell Gausha UD 8 Luis Grajeda
Kevin Newman UD 4 Bobby McIntyre
Sanjarbek Rakhmanov TKO 1 Brett Simmons
