Matt Skelton, Michael Grant Possibilities For Unbeaten David Price – If The Heavyweight Contender Can Get Past “A-Force” In October
By James Slater: Though he has yet to defeat fellow former Olympian Audley Harrison in a fight set for October 13th, David Price and his team have already got an eye on what could come next. According to The Liverpool Echo, the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist who is 13-0(11) as a pro has been approached with an offer to fight in South Africa next February, on a card that will honour Nelson Mandela.
29-year-old Price has been offered a fight with experienced former world heavyweight title challenger Michael Grant. Grant is almost as big as Price, and the veteran who is coming off KO wins over Tye Fields and Frans Botha would in all likelihood make a good learning opponent for the hope from Liverpool.
Another possibility for Price’s next fight after Harrison is one with British veteran Matt Skelton. Skelton will box a TBA on the Oct. 13th under-card in Liverpool, and if the 45-year-old wins, he could be next for Price before the end of the year.
British and Commonwealth ruler Price, now a BoxNation T.V fighter, is expected to go far and he is one of the hottest young heavyweight on the scene right now. Interestingly, The Liverpool Echo writes how Price rival Tyson Fury is “penciled in” for the South Africa show. For as long as both British heavyweights remain unbeaten, the debate will continue over who wins if they clash in the ring.
With regards to the Price-Harrison fight, “A-Force” has vowed not to freeze in this one, and he says he is in a good place mentally, ready to give it a real go in a fight that he himself agrees is his last chance saloon. Audley has always been a great talker, however, and despite his proclaimed enthusiasm for the October fight, I stick to my prediction: Price ices Harrison in one!
