Kubrat Pulev to Wladimir Klitschko: “Earn my respect!”

As with any loss, comes not only a period of denial, but also hope. Rarely does a fighter admit to losing because their opponent was simply better, throwing verbal jabs and suggestions at something other than their boxing ability that may have caused their loss.

Losing to Wladimir Klitschko has become a standard in the heavyweight division, as the towering Ukrainian champion has developed a style that has been working for him without a flaw. For Klitschko’s latest victim Kubrat Pulev, accepting his 5th round knockout loss is not something that he is willing to give in to.

“Thank you to all the Bulgarians, who came from all over the world to Hamburg, to support me. And thank you to all those who watched the fight on TV, wishing me victory. I congratulate Wladimir Klitschko! He got lucky, that I made a tiny mistake. Being a world champion, he refused to go through doping testing before the fight. That is why no matter how good he was in the ring, he cannot earn my respect. Nonetheless, it should be his honor to give me a rematch!” stated Pulev.

Pulev suggesting that Wladimir Klitschko got lucky is redundant, and can no longer stand in court so to say. Luck is something that comes and goes, sporadically. What Wladimir has, is technical and physical attributes chiseled to fit his boxing career. After their match, the online community consensus was that Pulev was clearly overmatched and outclassed, as was vastly predicted.

It was of no surprise to hear another note being played on the doping scandal tune. For Pulev to believe that it should be an honor for Klitschko to give him a rematch, proves that he has not yet been submerged into boxing politics and the way these things flow. The fight is over, the decision written in stone.

It has been rumored that Wladimir Klitschko might be considering facing his well known stalker and his biggest fan Shannon Briggs next. Klitschko’s manager Bernd Boente has recently suggested that facing Briggs is certainly an option.
