Tyson Fury is being naturally cautious going into his world heavyweight challenge to undisputed champion Wladimir Klitschko. The fight is due to take place in Dusseldorf, Germany on October 24th, yet Fury isn’t going to believe it until he actually sees the champion in the opposite corner.

Talking to iFLtv and evidently referencing David Haye, who twice signed – and twice pulled out – of fighting the Manchester born fighter, Fury said;

“When you’re three months away from a fight, these idiot’s they automatically get injuries don’t they? When things aren’t going right for them in training camp they pull out.

“Don’t be surprised if he (Wladimir) pulls out and wants to reschedule, all that type of sh***. He’s not in the ring yet, is he? The fight ain’t on until we’re trading punches.”

And Fury, along with promoter Mick Hennessey, believes the fight could be as big as Vitali Klitschkko/Lennox Lewis was back in 2003, and is well aware of what victory, as well as defeat, will do for his career.

In his own inimitable style, he said;

“If I win the I’ll be the biggest thing in boxing, if he wins then it’s another, routine shi** win ain’t it?”

“I won’t be getting any more shots. If I lose this will be my first and last shot. It’s taken seven year to get me a world title fight. I’m not the type of person who gets given voluntary shots and gifts given. I’m the type of person who has to work really hard – I fought three world title eliminators just to be here, and we’re still not in the ring are we?”

The 24th really will be the culmination of a career’s worth of hard work for Tyson Fury, and he wasn’t beyond sparing a few words for old rival David Price, who was knocked out cold in Germany by Erkan Teper last weekend.

The two were once on a domestic collision course, with Fury famously referring to the scouser as a “big, stiff idiot”, yet in light of recent events he bears no grudges.

“I feel sorry for David Price really. He was gonna be a hero at one stage, this big killer and then he got knocked out badly (Twice by Tony Thompson) and then to be losing to random, mediocre guys (Erkan Teper) it’s quite a fall from grace.”

“I wish him all the best in his life and career, whatever he wants to do, he’ll do it and you just gotta be thankful for every day you live, forget careers and all that sort of stuff.”
