The Mexican fighter has lost 3 of his last 5 and boxed up at cruiserweight for his last bout (a win) coming in at yesterday’s weigh-in 7 lbs over the super middleweight limit.
While it may be seen as routine business tonight for Buglioni, he is aware the fight could be a potential banana skin if he was to take his eye off the ball, although he is confident that won’t be the case and is still looking forward to his big opportunity in nine weeks time.
Speaking about the Chudinov bout to iFLtv, Buglioni said;
“They’ve honoured their agreement, the fight’s been made so it’s only postponed. It’s not been canceled, it’s not been taken away from me. The opportunity’s still there, and I will come through this fight (Castaneda) and I will be a world champion.”
Talking about tonight’s Mexican opponent and what he expects, he said;
“I’ve seen a couple of videos on him. His last fight was at cruiserweight. He’s ranked at super middleweight, he’s a Mexican so he’s gonna be tough, gonna be game and he’s experienced.
“He’s been sparring the likes of (Canelo) Alvarez and people like so that. He’s gonna be a very good fighter and it’ll be nice to fight a Mexican, ’cause I’ve never boxed a Mexican or South American fighter in the pros.”
Yet Buglioni is being careful not to overlook Castaneda, who could potentially end any hopes of a Chudinov fight should he pull the upset against the odds;
“This is my world title now because without a good win now, there’s nothing in front of me.”
