Carino Moreno Shocks Susi Kentikian in Germany

by Jens Zimmer: Former unified flyweight champion Susi Kentikian suffered her second straight loss at the Burg-Waechter Castello, in Düsseldorf, Germany yesterday. 31-year-old Carina Moreno (23-5, 6 KOs), who lost four of her last five fights, beat Kentikian (29-2, 16 KOs) in a very close fight by a ten round split decision. The judges scored the fight 96-94 twice for Moreno and 97-93 for Kentikian.

Kentikian looked looks the same as ever, rushing forward but not landing enough while getting caught too much by Moreno. The fight was close but Moreno did enough to win. East Side Boxing scored the fight 96-95 for Moreno.

Kentikiam, who is used to recieving hometown decisions could not understand why she lost for the seocnd straight time at home in Germany, “I fought until the last second, I do not know why the judges scored the fight the way they did.” she stated.

Kentikians new promoter and Ex-WBA Super Champion Felix Sturm: “There has to be a rematch. We will file a protest with the WBA against the scoring, the fight should be turned into a no-contest. Will not accept a loss, Susi clearly won!”

Ruslan Chaagev and Firat Arlsan both pulled out of the undercad fights leaving Sturm with a K1 undercard.
