Tim Bradley (31-1, 12 KOs) knows he’s in for a tough fight this Saturday night against the heavy-handed Diego Chaves (23-2, 19 KOs) at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Bradley knows this could be potentially a very tough fight for him if Chaves brings his A-game and he’s able to connect with his power shots.

Bradley says he’s not going to take the 28-year-old Chaves lightly, because he doesn’t want this fight to be tougher than it needs to be. For Bradley to win this fight in flying colors, he’s going to need to treat Chaves much like he did Juan Manuel Marquez in using movement, a stiff jab and fast combinations to keep Chaves from landing his shots.

Bradley will need to mix it up at times if he doesn’t want to turn off the Las Vegas crowd because his fight against Marquez was too much of a safety first fight for Bradley. If he wants to win over the boxing fans, he’s going to need to get in the trenches with Chaves a certain amount of time on Saturday and not simply stink up the joint by playing keep away for 12 rounds.

“I call him [Chaves] rugged because he ain’t no joke. Brandon Rios, where many felt he was unfairly treated in that fight and disqualified. But as boxing fans we all know that this guy can really fight, Diego Chaves brings a lot to the table. He’s a power puncher. You know the Argentinian fighters. Floyd Mayweather just fought one. He’s tough, I know his background, and I know Saturday night’s going to be a rough night, but I’m prepared at my very best right now.”

Bradley says he wants to give Marquez a rematch if he gets past Chaves or possibly move up in weight to 154 to try and get fights against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez or Miguel Cotto. Those fights would seem unlikely at this point. Cotto is a possibility in the future after he faces Canelo, but Cotto is not going to take on Bradley until he finishes his business against Canelo.
