WBA Super Middleweight Champ David Morrell Jr. turned The Armory in Minneapolis into his own personal victory stage. He sent Sena Agbeko packing in just two rounds – talk about efficiency! Presented by Premier Boxing Champions, this was the final SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING event of the season, and oh boy, did it deliver!

Morrell, a proud Cuban native who’s made Minneapolis his boxing haven since 2019, is now boasting a knockout-tastic record of 10-0, with 9 KOs. It was the largest turnout for a boxing match at The Armory – ever! And Morrell didn’t disappoint, ending Agbeko’s (28-3, 22 KOs) dreams 1:43 into the second round. Talk about a quick night’s work!

The moment of truth came when Morrell unleashed a fierce uppercut, sending Agbeko scrambling to the ropes. It was clear who the ringmaster was when Morrell followed up with a lethal straight left. The referee, probably fearing for Agbeko’s well-being (and who wouldn’t?), stepped in to call it quits. Morrell’s power punches? A staggering 68% success rate in that decisive round, thanks to CompuBox stats.

Post-fight, Morrell was all smiles and gratitude, thanking his fans and looking forward to a cozy Christmas at home. But wait, there’s more – he’s got his eyes set on a 2024 showdown with none other than the undefeated super middleweight powerhouse David Benavidez. “One-hundred percent,” he says.

Valenzuela’s Revenge: A Knockout Rematch Against Colbert!

Moving on to the co-main event, where drama unfolded in the WBA Lightweight Title Eliminator. Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela (13-2, 9 KOs) exacted sweet revenge on Chris “Primetime” Colbert (17-2, 6 KOs) with a vicious sixth-round knockout. Remember, Colbert narrowly won their first encounter in March.

Valenzuela was on fire from the get-go, dropping Colbert in the first round with a barrage that forced Colbert to take a knee. However, Colbert, showing the heart of a lion, managed to survive and even had some strong moments early on. But Valenzuela, with his improved footwork and patience, was setting the stage for his victorious moment.

In the sixth round, Valenzuela, like a predator, stalked Colbert around the ring and delivered a jaw-dropping right hook mid-round, leading the referee to end the bout 1:46 into the round. Valenzuela, now eyeing WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis, isn’t too keen on a trilogy with Colbert. He believes the fans have seen enough, and it’s time for bigger and better things.

Guerrero vs. Berto: A Battle of Former Champs

Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero and Andre Berto went toe-to-toe for ten rounds in the welterweight category. Guerrero (38-6-1, 20 KOs) emerged victorious with a unanimous decision (98-92 twice, 99-91) over Berto (32-6, 24 KOs).
