Australian Boxing: Zerafa Outpoints Rea
Michael Zerafa extended his unbeaten record to 15-0, 7 KOs, with a clear cut points decision victory over Joe Read (9-14-1, 4 KOs) at the Malvern Town Hall, Melbourne, Australia on Friday night.
Showing terrific speed and movement, Zerafa looked quite at ease keeping Rea at bay throughout the eight round bout, with the scorecards reading 79-73, 79-73, 80-72. However, at no stage a stoppage victory looked likely with the tough Rea always coming forward to engage in battle, but unable to land continuous attacks on the promising Victorian.
In winning the bout, Zerafa claimed his third Bob Rose Cup, a record for the event, hosted by Peter Maniatis Promotions, now in its 11th year.
In other bouts, Manny Vlamis in the second bout of his comeback, outpointed John Roil over eight rounds and Pierre Karam, returning to the ring after a 3 and a half year absence, outpointed Komgrit Nanakorn in their eight round bout.
Other winners on the night included Martin Toma, Alex Don and Steve Attard.
