Amir Khan vs. Gennady Golovkin?

Amir Khan tweeted recently saying he would take the fight vs Miguel Cotto ‘in a heartbeat.’ Amir Khan is obviously after the biggest names in the sport for the huge paydays and has been calling out every big name under the sun.

He went through a real ordeal of calling out Floyd Mayweather consistently dating back even before the first Maidana fight. That situation left him with no opponent, finally opting to face Devon Alexander rather than wait it out anymore.

Devon Alexander was just coming off a loss however, which left the victory being less than impressive in the end. He then went on to discuss Pacquiao as an option once he realised the Mayweather fight was not going to happen. Now he is calling out Golovkin?

On February 7th April Khan tweeted ‘Would gladly go up to 160 to face the most feared man in boxing @gggboxing #AK47.’

The tweet received hundreds of re-tweets and favorites in a short space of time, however was deleted by Khan a short period after. This was tweeted the same day that he made several tweets about Cotto yet those tweets remain live on his account. This leads me to believe that he thought twice about wanting to get into the ring against the animal who is looking for big names to fight, but is probably serious about doing a catch weight bout with Cotto.

If Cotto does not get Mayweather he may be looking for an opponent and someone like a Timothy Bradley or Amir Khan would be ideal for him so the fight could actually come off in the end. We know Khan would happily fight Mayweather or Pacquiao so it is not hard to imagine him in the ring with Cotto, who despite fighting at 160 currently, is the same height as Khan.
