Nelson Retains WIBA Belt in Dominating Affair; Jeter Defeats Lange

Fairfax, VA – Two years since their first rough-and-tumble affair that saw Tony Jeter upset Jimmy Lange in a controversial decision, the Maryland-based boxer once again defeated the popular Northern Virginia fan favorite in front of the Patriot Center crowd, earning a majority decision along with the North American Boxing Association’s USA middleweight belt. From the opening bell, the two ring warriors slugged it out for ten rounds, treating fans to another competitive battle But, it was once again Jeter, currently 17th rated by the World Boxing Council, using a steady stream of effective upper cuts, body punches and aggressive pursuit of Lange that helped him earn the victory. Sho Nuff: Nelson gets past Blencowe to retain title!

Springfield, VA (September 28, 2014) – WIBA welterweight champion Tori “Sho Nuff” Nelson overcame adversity and a tough opponent en route to a hard-fought ten round split decision over ultra-tough former titlist Arlene Blencowe Saturday evening at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, VA.

Nelson, who hails from nearby Ashburn, VA and is regarded as a top pound for pound fighter, came into the bout with a lot of confidence due to excellent performances of late. Blencowe however didn’t come all the way from Australia to not put up a serious fight. Continue reading

Ponytail Promotions: An Equal Opportunity Promoter

Baltimore, MD (June 25, 2014) – In today’s technology-crazed society, boxing fans and promoters have various outlets to make fighters a trending topic. From HBO’s 24/7 to Showtime’s All-Access, YouTube, fan forums and Twitter, there are more ways to get insight on boxing than ever before. Sadly, this mostly applies only to male fighters.

Of boxing’s major promoters, only one lists a female fighter in their stable and even the most hardcore fight fanatic would be hard-pressed to remember the last women’s boxing match on TV. The 2012 Olympics produced two American boxing medalists, both of which were women. Neither decided to leave the amateurs, with the reason most likely being lack of opportunity in the paid ranks.
