Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin fighting for respect Saturday on SHOWTIME

NEW YORK CITY (April 14, 2014) – Undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion of the World, Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin, is fighting for respect this Saturday night on SHOWTIME against No. 2 ranked Czech challenger Lukas Konecny (50-4, 23 KOs).

Quillin vs. Konecny is part of a Golden Boy Promotions event, sponsored by Corona and AT&T, and headlined by the world light heavyweight unification fight between IBF champion Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins and WBA title-holder Beibut Shumenov. Lukas Konecny interview; flying to USA for Quillin fight

Wearing a brand new glasses and with a big smile on his face – that’s how the Czech Republic’s most successful professional boxer Lukas Konecny (50-4-0, 23 KOs) approaches his American adventure (as well as his ultimate fight) against the local middleweight champion Peter Quillin (30-0-0, 22 KOs).

“Quillin’s still the big favorite, but I won’t give him anything for free. We’ve done some things in the camp, working on a specific strategy, so let’s see how it all pans out in the actual fight,” said the 35-year old fighter from Usti as he was waiting on the Prague Vaclav Havel Airport for his noon departure for Frankfurt. Once there, he’ll join his trainer Dirk Dzemski, and the two will then head straight for Washington D.C.

Veteran Konecny vows: Against Quillin, I’ll make my American miracle come true!

PRAGUE – In July, he’ll be 36, and boy, he really couldn’t ask for a better premature birthday present! On this past Wednesday, after two weeks of negotiations, the Czech Republic’s most successful professional boxer Lukas Konecny (50-4-0, 23 KOs) finally signed the contract for his fight against the American star from the Golden Boy Promotions stable and current WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (30-0-0, 22 KOs).

Both fighters will square off on April 19 in the American capital Washington in a Showtime televised bout that will precede the main event between the ageless IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (54-6-2, 32 KOs) and his WBA counterpart Beibut Shumenov (14-1-0, 9 KOs). Continue reading
