#1 IBF Matt Korobov (24-0, 14 KOs) has reportedly inked part of the contract for a title shot against WBO 160 pound champ Peter Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs), according to RingTV. Korobov, 31, signed the contract last Friday.
Korobov is now waiting for the 31-year-old Quillin to sign his part of the contract so the fight can move ahead. The target date for the fight is on November 1st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Korobov has his flaws in terms of his stamina, but he’s arguably a lot better than the guys that Quillin has been feasting on since he won the WBO title against Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam by beating him by a 12 round decision. Since then, Quillin has been a disappointment to some boxing fans for his choice of opposition. Continue reading
On Monday, Roc Nation Sports won the purse bid for November 8th matchup between WBO middleweight Peter Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs) and his mandatory challenger Matt Korobov (24-0, 14 KOs). Roc Nation was founded by rapper Jay-Z. They out-bid Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank with a monstrous bid of $1,904,840.
Golden Boy came in second with a bid of $1,207,000. Top Rank was a distant third at $515,000. The bid that Roc Nation put in for the Quillin vs. Korobov fight was obviously a very high one because it’s not a fight that promises a lot of interest from boxing fans. Continue reading

With nobody giving much love to WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin lately, Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya took to twitter today to name drop WBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s name in order to get Quillin some badly needed publicity.
De La Hoya said he’d like to see Quillin face Golovkin. The interesting part about that is Golovkin and his promoter have been after a fight against the 31-year-old Quillin for ages, but have had no such luck in getting him in the ring. So for De La Hoya to mention wanting to match Quillin against Golovkin today of all days, it suggests that he’s trying to name drop in order to get fans interested in Quillin on a day that Golovkin is being celebrated following his 3rd round TKO win over Daniel Geale last Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. Photo © Paul “Paparazzi” Jones – Washington, DC —In April,WBO Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs) dominated Lukáš Konečný (50-5, 23 KOs) over 12 rounds at the DC Armory. When the final results were read, Kid Chocolate led on all three scorecards (119-109 [twice], 120-108) in a virtual shutout. After the fight, Quillin wasted little time in calling out the Miguel Cotto(38-4, 31 KOs)/Sergio Martínez(51-2-2, 28 KOs) winner and fellow New Yorker, Daniel Jacobs(27-1, 24 KOs).
Before his victory, Quillin sat down with Eastsideboxing’s Paul “Paparazzi” Jones for an exclusive interview. Kid Chocolate discussed his upbringing, potential opponents, his connection to International Boxing Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, and more.
