Ronnie Shields remembers Omar Henry

By Joseph Herron: On Friday, February 1st, Junior Middleweight prospect Omar Henry passed away at age 25, after battling gallbladder cancer for the past three months.

After learning of the tragic news, trainer Ronnie Shields expressed his sympathy for his former fighter on this Sunday’s edition of “The Pugilist KOrner’s: Weekend Wrap”.

“I trained Omar Henry in the beginning of his professional career, and we always had a lot of fun in the gym. He was a fun-loving and jovial character. He was always making people laugh and telling jokes.” Continue reading

Top Don King Prospects Featured at Gulfstream Park In a ShoBox Doubeheader

Top prospects from Don King’s boxing stable will appear on ShoBox: The New Generation in a doubleheader on Friday, Nov. 16 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., (live at 11 p.m. ET/PT, on SHOWTIME). Undefeated junior middleweight contender Omar “Oh!” Henry (12-0-1, 9 KOs), from Chicago, will face a stiff test from “King” James de la Rosa (21-1, 12 KOs), from San Benito, Tex., while undefeated lightweight Angelo “La Cobra” Santana (13-0, 10 KOs), from Miami, will face fellow unbeaten Juan “Johnny” Garcia (13-0, 8 KOs), from Holland, Mich.
