By Marcus Richardson: Unbeaten featherweight contender Miguel “Mikey” Garcia (29-0, 21 KOs) had his way with journeyman fighter Mauricio Pastrana (35-17-2, 23 KO’s) on Saturday night stopping him in the 2nd round of a scheduled 10 round bout at the TKO Box Tour Hit Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Garcia, 24, connected with a big right hand that dropped the 39-year-old Pastrana. The fight was then halted at 1:05 of the round. Pastrana looked like he wasn’t ready for the right hand shot from the wire-thin Garcia.
Garcia could be next for WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido if the fight can be made. It’s going to be a good fight for both guys, and it could be a difficult one for Garcia. He’s been brought a long really slowly and he’s not had the chance to fight anyone good. He’s knocking the 3rd tier opposition out that his promoters are feeding, but he’s not been matched anyone near as good as Salido. Continue reading
