Karim Mayfield

Karim Mayfield dismisses Berto and Khan, says he is top choice for Mayweather Jr.

Once again Floyd Mayweather Jr. was able to make the media as well as the boxing community explode with emotion, in response to his declaration of either Karim Mayfield or Andre Berto being his next and possibly final career opponent.

In a recent interview, Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield (19-2-1, 11 KOs) made it clear that neither Andre Berto nor Amir Khan would be able to deliver the kind of thrilling performance against Mayweather Jr. that he could.

“I’m always ready to fight anyone anywhere. The fact that the great Floyd Mayweather has mentioned me as someone he wants to fight in September is music to my ears. It would be an honor to fight Floyd in Las Vegas. Continue reading

Amir Khan Says Floyd Mayweather Is Messing Up His Own Legacy

The circus that surrounds Floyd Mayweather’s potential opponent for his ‘final’ fight in September has been arguably led by one ‘ringmaster’ – a man who calls himself ‘King’, yet acts more like a Jester in terms of his very public chasing of the lucrative opportunity many – fighters and fans alike – consider him undeserving of.

I am of course talking about Britain’s Amir Khan, who in his ever desperate and public quest to get Floyd between the ropes, has told Ringcast.net that the future Hall of Fame Inductee is “messing his own legacy up” by ostensibly refusing to fight him on September 12th and opting for a ‘softer’ option. Floyd Mayweather insists he will fight either Karim Mayfield or Andre Berto in September

(Photo credit: Suzanne Teresa/Premier Boxing Champions) With Saturday’s dominant win over Adrien Broner under his belt, former IBF welterweight ruler Shawn Porter is understandably calling out Floyd Mayweather Junior. Porter – who was too strong for Broner (despite having to weigh-in three-pounds below the welterweight limit as per Broner’s demands) appeared to have things largely his own way until the 12th and final round when Broner put him down with a lead left hook to the head – scored a unanimous decision and now wants to face Mayweather in September.

“Money,” who will be having his 49th and very possibly final fight at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 12th, has yet to officially announce his challenger. Amir Khan remains hopeful he will get his dream fight, while other big names such as Gennady Golovkin and Keith Thurman have been calling out Mayweather for some time. And now, in the opinion of some, Shawn Porter deserves to be considered for September 12th. But Mayweather, in speaking with his website of choice, FightHype, had a surprise in store when he was asked on camera who he will likely fight in September. Continue reading
