Katsidis vs Earl 2: Tensions rise at press conference

Graham Earl touched down in Australia today ahead of his much anticipated rematch with former 2 time WBO world champion, Michael Katsidis ‘The Great’ on Friday night at Rumours International convention centre in Toowoomba.

A fit and hardened Earl today declared “Its only days until I bring back bragging rights for the whole of England as I claim my victory that I should of had in 2007, when we traded blows before. Michael has said there will be no trilogy and he is correct when he says that, as once we box I will make it his last fight and retire him from boxing. Nathan Brough Gets Comebacking Graham Earl At The Olympia

Fight PosterUndefeated Scouser, Nathan Brough, will take on former British and WBU ‘world’ lightweight champion, Graham Earl, at Liverpool’s Olympia on May 24.

Earl is probably best remembered for his 2007 war with Australian great, Michael Katsidis. In one of the best fights seen in a British ring, the pair threw bombs at each other, and both took counts, before Graham was retired by his corner after five pulsating rounds.

Now, after being out of the ring for four years, Earl is on the comeback trail. With a record of 26 wins from 30 bouts, the Luton man has an impressive ledger and Nathan – undefeated in nine – is sure that, despite the lengthy layoff, Earl still poses a genuine threat.

“I’ve got nothing but respect for Graham as an opponent. He was in that great fight with Katsidis; he’s been in with [current world champ] Ricky Burns, and some of the best around.
