Barry N. (Houston, TX): Floyd Mayweather has ripped several people in the news lately and it’s not only uncalled for, but also kind of hard to understand it all. What do you think is really going on with him lately?
Vivek W. (ESB): The on-going drama we’ve seen lately between these four men have somewhat reached a boiling point. While Smith and Mayweather Sr. have stepped away from the table, it seems little Floyd and Khan still have a few things to air out, which we’ve heard lately. There are so many different angles to this discussion that I don’t even know where to start, but I guess the safest statement for me to lead off with is the fact that I think there’s a hint of truth to all of their respective positions, with the exception of maybe Steven A. Smith’s. Continue reading

Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2014) Seven days out from their highly anticipated “Mexican Style” showdown, WBA/IBO Middleweight World Champion GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN and WBC Interim Middleweight Champion MARCO ANTONIO “El Veneno” RUBIO were both within the prescribed limits set forth by the World Boxing Council rules.
For the WBC Official 7-Day Weigh-In, Golovkin tipped the scale at 165lbs., while Rubio weighed in at 167.5lbs.
“We’re a week out and both fighters appear to be in excellent shape,” said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions. Continue reading
WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) is a big boxing underdog for his fight next Saturday night against WBA Super World Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) on HBO from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Rubio’s trainer Robert Garcia says he’s watched enough of the 32-year-old Golovkin’s past fights to know that he’s got flaws that Rubio can exploit on Saturday night.
Garcia says Golovkin can be hit due to his come forward style of fighting, and that’s something that the hard hitting Rubio can take advantage of with his power. Continue reading
Marco Antonio “El Veneno” Rubio 59-6-1 (51KO) and his trainer Robert Garcia say Marco is going to introduce Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin 30-0-0 (27KO) to “Mexican Style” fighting. The description implies being a warrior, willing to die in the ring, courageous, never afraid, exhibiting a good chin, always calm and of course having a great left hook to the liver.
Rubio enjoys all of the Mexican Style qualities. He is the current WBC interim middleweight champion. He has been through several wars, and with the exception of three stoppages in his long career, has proved to have the “good chin”.
While many boxing fans see WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) as a lamb being led to the slaughter by WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) on October 18th, Rubio’s trainer Robert Garcia thinks that Rubio, with his Mexican style, will give Golovkin all kinds of problems.
Garcia thinks it comes down to Rubio having real Mexican blood while Golovkin is just someone that is attempting to adopt the Mexican style of fighting. In other words, Rubio is the real thing while Golovkin is just trying to copy what he sees instead of what’s inside of him. Continue reading
Trainer Abel Sanchez says his fighter WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-, 27 KOs) is 100 percent ready for his clash next month against WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) on their “Mexican Style” fight card on October 18th at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA.
Sanchez believes that the hard hitting Rubio will be coming to slug it out with Golovkin, and that’s what he’s hoping for. Sanchez wants to see the two of them slugging it out in front of the boxing fans at the StubHub Center and the fans that tune in to watch the fight on HBO Championship Boxing. Continue reading
