Gary Salazar Wins First Round Stoppage at the 2012 Youth World Championships

Bantamweight Gary Salazar (Fresno, Calif.) won his second straight bout of the 2012 Youth World Championships on Saturday, stopping Syria’s Ali Ghosoun in the first round of their contest. Salazar is the second American boxer to record a first round stoppage win at the event. Light heavyweight Anthony Sims, Jr. (Ypsilanti, Mich.) accomplished the same feat in Friday’s action in Yerevan, Armenia as well. Continue reading

Gary Salazar Kicks Off Youth World Championships Action in Impressive Fashion While Two U.S. Boxers Drop Bouts

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) – Bantamweight Gary Salazar (Fresno, Calif.) was the first U.S. boxer to step through the ropes at the Youth World Championships in Yerevan, Armenia and he enjoyed an impressive start with a stoppage victory. Light flyweight Noberto Torres (Inverness, Fla.) and light welterweight Julian Rodriguez (Paterson, N.J.) didn’t enjoy the same success in their evening bouts.
