Gabriel Rosado on Golovkin – ‘I think he got a little exposed’

In a FightHype interview with tough fighter Gabriel Rosado, Gabe gave a lot of respect to the efforts of Martin Murray. The basic takeaway of the interview was that he thought if a top fighter could take the gameplan laid down by Murray and his team and execute it better, they could beat Golovkin. Basically the blueprint on beating him was there, it would just take an extraordinary talent to be able to pull it off. Rosado then commented saying that someone like Canelo could give Golovkin problems if a similar strategy was employed.

Gabriel Rosado will be involved in a good bout soon with former Golovkin victim Curtis Stevens, however this fight will not be happening in a boxing ring.

David Lemieux Stops Gabriel Rosado In U.S. Debut

A crowd of 6,532 at Barclays Center were treated to a special performance from two warriors Saturday night as David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs)stopped “King” Gabriel Rosado (21-9, 13 KOs)in the 10th round of a very competitive main event on HBO Boxing After Dark.

The Montreal-native Lemieux retained his NABF Middleweight title while displaying the incredible power that has put the entire middleweight division on notice. Lemieux scored a knockdown in round three when he delivered a flurry that knocked the Philadelphia-born Rosado off-balance and put him on the canvas.

But it just kind of got to the point where I just felt that it wasn’t anything personal, it’s just business and I thought that in order for me to take it to that next level, I had to make a move. Last month’s Middleweight clash between Gabriel Rosado and Brian Vera may have been overlooked by the majority of fans, but its significance to the future of boxing should not be, as it heralded the arrival into the mainstream of BKB, Big Knockout Boxing. The bout took place not in a traditional boxing ring but in ‘The Pit’, a 17 foot diameter circular arena without any ropes or cage favored by other contact sports. With Championship fights taking place over seven, two minute rounds and under a new rules system designed to encourage more action and excitement, the main event did not disappoint. Rosado put on a magnificent display of controlled aggression eventually knocking out Vera with seconds to go at the end of the sixth round.

With the sport still in its infancy, Big Knockout Boxing will undoubtedly have many detractors quick to brand it as simplistic violence for uneducated boxing fans. Purists will decry it as a blasphemy against traditional boxing as it negates many of the defensive skills of their idols. But boxing fans should not overlook the interest BKB promises to bring to a sport that has seen better days. Whilst I understand the feelings many have about traditional notions of the ‘Sweet science’, fans have grown frustrated at being asked to pay top dollar to watch boring fights and have expressed a desire for change. Change that forces fighters to engage more and not simply run or hold. Change that encourages fighters to win decisively by knockout rather than relying on the judges’ scorecards. And change that will provide the excitement and drama necessary to attract new fans the sport. Casual fans and TV audiences simply do not want to watch two ‘Scientists’ run, hold or jab their way through twelve rounds of tedium refereed by a United Nations Peace keeper!

Peter Quillin Defeats Gabriel Rosado

Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (30-0, 21 KO’s) remained undefeated and retained his WBO Middleweight title by defeating “King”Gabriel Rosado via technical knockout. The fight was stopped at 40 seconds of the tenth round by the referee on the advice of the doctor due to a deep cut on Rosado’s left eyelid.

Quillin came out of the gate as the more confident and powerful of the two, dropping Rosado in the second. But by the fourth, Rosado found rhythm and confidence of his own. Rosado pressed forward and took the momentum away for virtually the rest of the fight.

But Quillin was counter punching and keeping each round close. In the ninth, with less than a minute left, Quillin landed a snap jab that sliced open Rosado’s eyelid which began to pour blood.

Rosado suspicious about Golovkin’s gloves

It took Gabriel Rosado (21-6, 13 KO’s) nine months to speak up but he’s now saying that he’s suspicious about the gloves that WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO’s) used when he stopped him in the 7th round last January in Madison Square Garden, New York. Rosado, 27, says that he noticed that there was little padding around the knuckle portion of the gloves compared to his own, according to RingTV, and that has Rosado wondering what’s up.

Golovkin turned Rosado’s face into what resembled hamburger by the 7th round, and it was pretty quick the way his features changed once Golovkin started to land his power shots. Rosado was running the entire fight with the exception of the 5th round. In that round, Rosado mixed it up with Golovkin and both guys got hit with some good shots. The fight was pretty much over in the 6th round after Golovkin caught Rosado with a right hand uppercut that staggered him. A bleeding Rosado then went back onto his bike until the fight was stopped in the 7th.

Quillin: Rosado will have to accept defeat

WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin (29-0, 21 KO’s) sees himself winning on Saturday night in his title defense against Gabriel Rosado (21-6, 13 KO’s) at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. Quillin, 30, sees himself getting a stoppage in over #9 WBO Rosado, and it’s difficult to disagree with that belief because this fight on paper looks to be about as competitive as Quillin’s first title defense against Fernando Guerrero.

That fight was a mismatch the moment it was signed and Quillin took a lot of heat from boxing fans for not taking on a more dangerous opponent. Now we’re getting a repeat of that with Quillin taking on another less than dangerous foe in Rosado, and naturally Quillin realizes that he’s likely to win easily.

The fight stands out to hardcore fans as the best matchup of Showtime Triple-header this Saturday night from Atlantic City, New Jersey. In the main even Bernard Hopkins attempts to add to his legend of longevity.

The unbeaten Quillin is on a mission to prove all of his doubters wrong with a great performance. Rosado, who claims he can’t get a legit fight at 154, travels north to 160 once again for a shot to win his first title.
