Frank Warren Statement

In response to the press release issued earlier today by Matchroom Sport, promoter Frank Warren has responded:

“Matchroom Sport Limited’s lawyers did in fact write a letter of claim to me on Thursday 12th September 2013 regarding comments allegedly made on Tuesday 3rd September. Warren to pick between 3 candidates to fight Cleverly on 11/10

By Michael Collins: British promoter Frank Warren is choosing from one of three candidates to face WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (24-0, 11 KO’s) for his stateside fight on November 10th at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Cleverly was going to be fighting 175 pound contender Ryan Coyne but he’s dealing with problems with his former promoter so he won’t be able to take the fight. Warren will have to pick a top 15 contender in order for Cleverly’s fight to count as a title defense and it’s unclear at this moment whether he can do that with this short notice. Continue reading
