Edmund Gerber (23-1, 14 KOs) feels ready to become the European Heavyweight Champion. On September 21, the 25-year-old German will get his very first title shot at the Copper Box Arena London, England. That night, Englishman Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11 KOs) will stand in the opposite corner as he tries to get his hands at the EBU Belt on his second attempt. However, Gerber will not let it get to that point in the first place. In the following interview, Gerber tells how he will be able to beat Chisora.

European Heavyweight title challenger Edmund Gerber say he’ll be British star Dereck Chisora’s therapist when they clash at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday 21st September. Photo: Wende – It seems like the festive spirit is taking over. The Austrian Boxing Federation (FVA) let Michael Sprott (26-19, 17 KOs) of the hook and reduced his ban in order for him to face Edmund Gerber (22-0, 14 KOs) for the second time on December 15. The heavyweight clash is part of the undercard to the WBO Super Middleweight World Championship between Arthur Abraham (35-3, 27 KOs) and Mehdi Bouadla (26-4, 11 KOs).
After Sprott´s TKO loss to Edmund Gerber on September 15, the 37-year-old seemed to have let the frustration get the better of him as he went to confront Referee Gerhard Sigl and ended up pushing him, as he did not believe that Sigl had to stop the fight. Just a few days after the event in Bamberg, Germany, the sanctioning body of the fight (FVA) decided to ban the man from Reading for three months. However, due to the fact that Sprott previously had a record of immaculate behaviour he was granted permission to participate in Nuremberg, just a few days before the official end of the ban. Two titles are at stake when world-class boxing returns later this month to the city of Bamberg, Germany. International Boxing Federation (IBF) cruiserweight champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez (26-1, 13 KOs) has set his sights on defending his crown against mandatory challenger Troy Ross (25-2, 16 KOs). In addition, middleweight Dominik Britsch (26-0-1, 9 KOs) is trying to erase any doubts in people’s minds when he once again faces off with rugged Spaniard Roberto Santos (17-6-2, 9 KOs) for the EU Championship. Their first encounter ended in a draw. Besides those two great match-ups, Sauerland Event has an undercard stacked with quality fights to heat up the crowd before the main event. The card includes heavyweight Edmund Gerber as well as Austria’s finest, middleweight Marcos Nader. Continue reading
