Don King and Fres Oquendo Congratulate WBC President Sulaiman during Key to the City of Miami Ceremony
Miami, Florida – August 20, 2013 – On August 20, 2013, legendary boxing promoter Don King and top-rated heavyweight Fres Oquendo congratulated WBC President Jose Sulaiman at Miami’s City Hall as he received the Key to the City of Miami by Mayor Tomás Regalado.

Don King Productions won today the purse bid for the third fight between World Boxing Organization (WBO) Jr. Heavyweight champion Marco Huck and Interim champion Ola Afolabi with a $1.5 million offer.
“Don King won the purse bid with $1.5 million and will make the fight on May 25 in Germany”, WBO President Valcarcel, who conducted the purse bid in Miami, said.
European promoters K2 Promotions and Sauerland Event also were involved in the purse bid, whose minimum offer was $300,000.
Huck (32-5-1, 25 KOs) and Afolabi (19-2-4, 9 KOs) have fought two times, winning Huck the first time by a close unanimous decision and the second time ended in a draw. Huck has 10 defenses of his title.
By Rob Smith: Promoter Don King won Saturdays WBC heavyweight purse bid to promote the Chris Arreola vs. Bermane Stivern WBC heavyweight title eliminator bout with the winner to possibly face WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko if he doesn’t retire. King came in with the winning purse bid of $1.1 million, twice as much as runner-up Dan Goosen’s $500,000 bid. Golden Boy Promotions’ bid was $515,000, and WealthTV $132,000. Continue reading
