Rubio Wins WBF World Super Middleweight Title

Marco Antonio Rubio is finally a world champion, after failed attempts at middleweight against Kelly Pavlik and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., as he captured the vacant World Boxing Federation World Super Middleweight title by defeating former world champion Carlos Manuel Baldomir on Saturday night (Sept. 8) in Celaya, Mexico.

Rubio defeats Baldomir

By Rob Smith: Former two time middleweight title challenger Marco Antonio Rubio (55-6-1, 48 KO’s) defeated former WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir (49-15, 15 KO’s) by a 5th round stoppage tonight to win the vacant World Boxing Federation super middleweight title at the Gimnasio Miguel Alemán Valdez, Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. Rubio battered the 41-year-old Baldomir with power shots in rounds one through four. Following the 4th round, Baldomir failed to come out for the fifth round. Continue reading
