By Prince Dornu-Leiku– Ghana’s enigmatic boxer, Braimah Kamoko is set to use boxing to spread the message of peace to Ghanaians as the West African nation goes into general elections on December 7 when he headlines the ‘Ghana for Peace’ boxing promotion on 1st December in Accra.
Unbeaten Kamoko, 23-0, 17 KOs, puts his WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title up against Tanzanian Pascal Ndomba at the Accra Sports Stadium barely six days before Ghana’s 2012 Election Day. It will be a first return to the ring for the man famously nicknamed Bukom Banku since he successfully defended the same belt against Uganda’s Hamza Wandera back on February 25.
The ‘Ghana for Peace’ bill features a total of seven bouts to excite fight fans in Accra and is promoted by Golden Concepts and Golden Mike Promotions under the auspices of the Ghana Boxing Authority headed by Samir Captan. Continue reading
By Prince Dornu-Leiku – The return of WBO Africa Light Heavyweight champion, Braimah Kamoko AKA Bukom Banku, originally scheduled for October 27 at the Accra Sports Stadium has been postponed to November 24 due to a clash of date with the World Boxing Organization (WBO) sanctioning body’s annual convention.
This year’s WBO convention, the silver jubilee edition is billed for Florida, USA from 22nd October through 28th October with every WBO executive member expected to attend the convention, meaning 2011 WBO Africa Boxer of the year Bukom Banku’s first bout since a 3rd round TKO victory over Hamza Wandera in February will now have to wait a bit longer.
